I thought that's effectively what the PowerPak did? Except that not all of us can afford paying $135 for this product. I'm more referring to making a cartridge from parts rather than having it all ready for you. Plus, you wouldn't really want to redistribute this cart if you, for example, made a/n ...

If Technology is *this* Advanced...

Here's something I've been thinking about recently. Now, I'm not an expert in making NES cartridges (not that I ever had one, physically), but I always wondered: if we're so far technologically advanced that yesterday's invention costs pennies, what stops us from inserting RAM sticks and SD cards in...

You can always try to program to use the Subor mouse, though that's probably be effective only for emulators.

Try to compress the data in a "block X spans an area of Y by Z blocks".

Well, here's a font that I made myself:

I don't know whether I should add in lowercase letters as that might just take up unneeded CHR space.

If you're going to bury the ROM in a Java app, to avoid someone else digging it out you can always encrypt the data. Hell, I might even think that it's possible to do it in the ROM itself, but why would you want to...

8X16 Sprites... Disadvantages?

Here's a curious question: because the NES gives you an option to use 8X16 sprites instead of 8X8 sprites, it would obviously be more beneficial. However, obviously with every advantage there are disadvantages. So, are there any problems with this method? If not, why do some people rather not use 8X...

Oh hey, another reason we need a good tutorial on nesdevWiki! You know, the ones where author(s) explain the code as if they completely understand it yet simple enough to explain to the most inexperienced ones.

Fossilize the cart! :P I mean, that's how most things survived, even though not 100% usable.

Anyhow, no, we have none of the commodities you have over there. We do things the old way. (Like buying from polar bears in igloo ticket booths.)

And guess why I didn't suggest Wayback Machine or Google Cache? Oh, that's right, because they just had to fuck around and not store the pages that were truly needed at the worst time. BTW, does anyone know what happened to Neonympyr?

Brazil moved to raise tariffs on a wide range of American goods on Monday, potentially igniting a trade war with the US over cotton subsidies after eight years of litigation at the World Trade Organisation. The decision takes effect next month, starting a 30-day period during which US and Brazilian...
