Re: Possible compromise(s) when switching to a *nix based sy

I switched to Linux mainly in 2012 with Linux Mint, and have owned a gaming desktop that only runs Linux since Jan. 2014. Mint at first, then I switched to Arch. Arch for my PC is great because it's powerful, uses all my hardware because I compile/use pre-made modified kernels, I can game, and progr...

Re: How to partially render a sprite that is popping up slow

I'm pretty sure one of the Mario's actually does use tiles in front of the sprite to cover it, so just make sure your sprite rendering and background/foreground flags are set up correctly.

Re: History of Action 52

That somehow he thought that it was possible to practically make one game a day should have been a dead giveaway. It didn't help that the people who got hired had absolutely no idea of how the hardware even remotely worked at all, and so had to figure it all out within that short time as well. Ugh....

Bless is the default, and a decent, hex editor for Linux.

Re: Is vertical split possible?

MMC5 offers it, so obviously. But useful? No. Takes too much hardware to detect and use AFAICT from thinking about it.

Re: Favorite Linux Distros

Arch. I like that Repo-ck exists to add a better queue, scheduler, and compile with all my processor's options. Pacman is also simply the best package manager because it's easy to fix anything because forcing it to remove anything is simple, as long as you know what you're doing it's great. Plus, it...

I meant to use Chrome's pepper flash, which is all around better than Adobe's.

Switched to Linux, will never go back to that OS for anything, as it isn't needed with Steam on Linux now.

Re: NES-001 cap replacement guide for the av power module

Those solder joints are absolutely horrid. I hope that didn't get sent to someone and is a dead unit only for showing stuff. Well none of the caps are soldered in, only desoldered holes for ease of picture taking and demonstration. Any solder joints you see are from the manufacturer. Weird, because...

Re: Demptronic NFL Football

Another reason not to use MMC5. Nobody knows wtf is wrong with the mapper when the mapper rejects the configuration, and we're seeing another mapper issue here, more than likely.

Re: Demptronic NFL Football

It's affecting scrolling because basically all PPU registers are a copy of a single register when they're written to. You have to restore the register internally by writing the correct scroll as the last thing you do in Vblank.

No, it wouldn't be.
