Re: SuperDisc BIOS released + analysis [attn: nocash]

Guess we gotta get a Sony CDU33A (perhaps 31A?) PC CD-ROM drive to help on this. There are DOS drivers apparently, maybe that can help by REing those or something? Anyway I asked him for the PCB pics, though I'm gonna have to go soon as I'm in the middle of moving house... Maybe he'll get here and h...

Re: SuperDisc BIOS released + analysis [attn: nocash]

Maybe it's time to start asking them what do they plan to do with it? Also, does anybody know why the CD drive doesn't even work in the first place? Is it just a mechanical failure as usual? Because if not, then it could be a problem with that memory as you said... though honestly I have my doubts ...

Re: SuperDisc BIOS released + analysis [attn: nocash]

Seems to be a NEC D75P308GF, a 4-bit microprocessor. Probably used to drive the CD-ROM front panel. It has an internal 8064-byte program ROM (OTP). While it does have a documented read-out mode, I imagine the odds of us obtaining that ROM are slimmer than a snowball's chance in hell :( In any case,...

No there's even more, I've just put out a quick album: http://imgur.com/a/2PGcU

I believe I can get more from the owner if you want.

Re: SuperDisc BIOS released + analysis [attn: nocash]

What I'm thinking about the music disc: This might be when the controls on the unit itself may come in handy if the BIOS doesn't do anything.

It should be mentioned that we've also found that it MAY use $21D0. But it always writes 0x00 to it. (STZ $21D0)
No idea what it is.

Re: Sony/Nintendo Playstation Prototype

Now I wonder if we'll ever see the Philips version of the SNES CD, I doubt it, but you never know. If it even existed. At least some of Nintendo's documents were released for it, which mentions that it has a 32-bit RISC CPU but it was pretty light on details. There are other documents like the Syst...

Re: Sony/Nintendo Playstation Prototype

More details: http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/06/nintendo-playstation-is-real-and-it-works/ BIOS works as does the test cartridge. Hopefully BIOS and test cart eventually get dumped. Neat stuff, not sure if there are any additional helper chips (ala Super FX), or if it's just a SNES with a CD-ROM d...

Re: How to program a NINTENDO POWER Cartridge ?

Pretty sure that the Town BIOS was written to allow for the option of releasing different capacities / flash types in the future, but in the real world ... you only ever have to worry about one type of cart. xFD0-xFD3 in the header of EACH program is the Allocation Block Flags. 1 bit = 1M. There ar...

Re: How to program a NINTENDO POWER Cartridge ?

Just updated the Satellaview Flash commands wiki page mentioning ikari_01 and that they were tested on real hardware.

I figured it's good information. :D (It's not like I was asked about it.)

I guess for Nintendo Power carts, there was no reason to not use the same kind of thing.

Re: bsnes and headers

This is what I think about headers and this argument that makes no sense, I don't care about what anyone thinks: They are useless, and more, they aren't part of the ROM in the cartridge. Why should it be there? And better yet: Why so many formats? Emulators aren't emulating copiers as far as I know....

The Satellaview Server for NO$SNS doesn't work anymore too.
I thought it was included in it. So it's the world's first online Satellaview Server in that case...

But i have to say, bravo, and seriously, thanks.
