Re: Nintendo cease&desist on a C64 port of Super Mario Bross

Home computers (/ old IBM PCs) that didn't have any fine scrolling regs in hardware had to manually shift the entire screen data around to get any kind of scrolling. Which is why many games either had choppy scrolling or did it in 8/16 etc pixel increments. Actually on PC you can do vertical scroll...

Re: We are Hejickle

I noticed some ASCII strings in the file which seem to be not used. Would a advanced version be made later which can be larger than 64K (with more areas, character selection, and whatever else it might be)? This file is 64K but I think the mapper it uses supports more than 64K.

Re: Does RF Famicom work with "cable-ready" US TVs?

I have had no trouble connecting RF Famicom through a VCR on channel 95 or 97 (I have not tried directly on the TV). A passive adapter is needed. The picture quality isn't best though.

The "Style" option you can only set one mode at once, even though multiples at the same time should not be mutually exclusive generally.

Re: We are Hejickle

It is good, but there seems a few bugs. The bugs I found are: The help for Armory and Log are switched around, and the help for Library and Stages are switched around. If you switch around weapons in the Armory menu and then push the SELECT button to view the descriptions, it will forget that they h...

Re: NoKey95: Disabling Microsoft-Logo-Keys on Windows95 keyb

Other commands with the Windows logo key: Win + R = run dialog Win (by itself) = display start menu I don't like much they put Windows logo there (it should be some text instead) since not all computers will use Windows, and the key can still be applicable to other operating systems too sometimes. N...

Re: Microgame compiler experiment (early WIP)

Some alternatives for the syntax are YAML (which is a superset of JSON, so JSON code can still be used too), or RDF, or Lisp.

I also notice the 6502 code could be optimized in some ways, such as a tail call optimization to WinGame.

Re: Thinking about making an NES Z-Machine

I have worked on Famicom Z-machine implementation some time ago, although I have since stopped (I have not bothered to install the software on this new computer, which is Linux rather than Windows). Here is a link to some further information: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/User:Zzo38/Famicom_Z-m...

Re: NESASM3 - Reset code compiled to wrong location

The .bank command in NESASM uses 8K banks, regardless of the mapper. Therefore, you have to specify .bank 1 if you want to address $E000 (on VRC6, that address is fixed to the last bank; you specified one 16K bank, which is two 8K banks, so the bank number for NESASM will be 1). (NESASM is confusing...

Same here, although a HEAD request says 40976 bytes, but a GET request gives 0. To me this suggests some sort of bug.

Re: Anybody want to follow my Twitter account?

I do not have any Twitter account (and do not attempt to get any), although sometimes I will read messages on Twitter occasionally. There are, in any case, other ways that we can put the message, including hosting them by yourself.
