Re: Aren't you afraid that NES Maker would just bring lazy n

Yeah, as a person who uses NM, I fear it will get the same fate and label as RPG Maker - there are great RPG Maker games, Skyborn and To the Moon being just two commercial examples, but people still shy away for RM games without even trying them because of many "mah first gaem evar!!!11!" ...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

Important fact: Asus UX32VD is a laptop. It also contains two GPUs: Intel HD 4000 (i.e. IGP / integrated graphics into the CPU), and an NVIDIA GT 620M. I don't know which of those GPUs is actually handling the graphical drawing, but it likely matters. Neither GPU is particularly "powerful"...

Re: Can someone recommend me a cheap NES clone?

Honestly, you get a better experience with an emulator than a clone console. The swapped duty cycles on those clones is utterly unacceptable. Not every homebrew has a ROM file. Not even every NES game. Some are downright impossible to emulate due to custom hardware in the cart that was made just fo...

Either NTSC or PAL, though with modern TVs region doesn't matter anymore and I don't play Duckhunt that I can't use a LCD.

Can someone recommend me a cheap NES clone?

Must: - Play real NES carts (72 pin) - Be hardware-based (either cloned PPU/2A03 or NOAC), no emulation because then you get into issues with some games that use weird mappers (most homebrew stuff) - As cheap as possible. Can't afford a real NES and everything I was able to find were famicom->NES co...

Re: Mesen - NES Emulator

What can I do as an user to improve Mesen's performance? My computer is Asus UX32VD, i5 version, but Mesen barely uses my CPU (there's free cpu time and by no means it's hitting 100%). The problem I'm facing is that emulator randomly drops to 40-58 FPS range (most of the time it's 55fps) which leads...

Aren't you afraid that NES Maker would just bring lazy noobs

I mean, it can be powerful when used right (I mean, I'm using it to make a top-down shooter as we speak), but it's also very easy to use and as such it may become a noob magnet in a similar way RPG Maker and Unity are. Aren't you afraid that it will just bring for the most time lazy, low-effort &quo...

Re: Why I never had made a NES game, really

Crawling is boring. And I've always learned the most when I've set my sights high and had a proper guidance regarding HOW not IF I SHOULD.

Re: Why I never had made a NES game, really

The thing is, I don't have problems with making physics and so on, made couple of games in regular engines and fantasy consoles (mainly TIC-80 and PICO-8, though I'm considering creating in others as well). The main problem for me is interfacing with the hardware as there seems to be no tutorial tha...

Why I never had made a NES game, really

Opcodes are easy. They really are. I have no problem making some numbers move and increase in an "artificial" environment where all I have are 6502, some RAM and memory monitor. Found something like that online (though I for sure know it wasn't easy6502 and last time I've checked the site ...

Really fun thing. One issue though, please change this enemy's look. It's easy to mistake it for a checkpoint. Or change checkpoint, doesn't really matter.

Re: Could someone built me NESICIDE from sources?

Any reason to not just upload a new version of builds for various platforms (Windows in my case) on the website? :) Try this Windows 64-bit build . If you need something archaic like a 32-bit build, that'll take a bit longer. It works in my eval Win7 64-bit VM. Your results [hopefully] may [n...

Re: Any accurate emulator with good debug features?

I know FCEUX has good debug capabilities, but it's not very accurate when it comes to emulation. It's SNES9x of nes emulation. It's THAT inacurrate.

Could someone built me NESICIDE from sources?

The last version available here is from 2013 and the repo was last updated an hour ago. However I don't have the time to build it myself (no, seriously - with the potato I'm forced to use compiling even simplest programs takes ages, not to mention the entire IDE), so I'd like to ask someone who has ...
