Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

No, mmc3 does not use use the header flag that famirom reads.

The bug is mentioned on mottzilla's patch page. You should be able to google it with his name. Its literally a 1 byte replacement. You'll need a hex editor.

Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

so I'm 95% sure this is you having a bad rom. the currently available mmc3 patch doesn't set mirroring. i can duplicate what you posted by forcing mirroring to horizontal in fceu. everything works if it's set vertical. i haven't tested on cart yet but i bet yours defaults to horizontal. you have to ...

Re: What is this board?

By the label, the game seems fairly well known. Might be a prototype version of it? Or could just be the finished game sent out as a sample. Doesn't look like it was published outside of Japan so maybe they were shopping it around in North America. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenger_(video_ga...

Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

Prg rom is 128, pin 30 can be left alone to be fixed high as long as he's doubling correctly which he has indicated he is.

Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

sorry i messed up my labels on the last post, pin 31 should go to pin 32 vcc not GND. might be better to start with a fresh eprom and do this: pin 1 up pin 2 -> hole 24 pin 24 -> pin 16 this is a 128K prg rom so that's all you should need, everything else is fine where it is. if that still fails, th...

Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

31 should be GND so pin 32 is closest. holes 31 and 32 are usually bridged on the board so you leave it down.

most chips it won't matter but some will not go into read mode if it's floating.

post some pics of your wiring if you're having trouble

"should be"

Typing on phone so I'm cheating

If it runs on flash cart it should run on a donor, just a matter of wiring it up right

Re: TL-ROM Splatterhouse

If it's the motzilla patch he says tlrom (it probably is). He also says there's a bug with the 1.2 patch so be aware of that.

Assuming prg is 128 or 256, pin 1 is usually left up unconnected, pin 31 s/b left down. If that doesn't work pin 1 should be fixed hi or low I never remember which.

FYI famirom will split bins for situations like this. NES afterburner and action 52 are the other ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: X1-017 testing

I am all for hardware accuracy. That's what 552 is for. The 82 implementations work by coincidence. I won't call that hardware accurate. But implementations exist as do roms relying on them so they should be documented for legacy purposes.

Re: X1-017 testing

I would argue mapper 082 already does not represent any known hardware and having an oversized extension to accommodate an existing hack is fine because it's no better or worse than excluding it. None of it is valid, so it may as well all be included.
