Re: Anyone has a real NTSC Incredible Crash Test Dummies car

i have a mmc3c socketed cart for testing. the text on the opening screens is jumpy. here's a test run: https://twitter.com/FrankWDoom/status/1086181109824610309 (sorry, don't know a better way to post a video here) recorded on a crt on an original nes (has a copynes installed but i don't think that ...

Re: SimCity prototype found!

there are low profile adapters available that will fit a tall famicom board in a nes shell. may require relocating some components but it can be done.

Re: SimCity prototype found!

the photo i've seen shows an eteprom board with no obvious alterations, so i'm assuming that's what's going on. away from home right now but i've got some famicom donors stashed away to try this on a cart.

Re: game boy kiosk picture generation

interesting, i wasn't aware wide boys existed for nes hardware. some good info here:
http://www.chrismcovell.com/wideboy.html

interestingly the kiosk seems to put the game on the gb screen and the monitor at the same time. its hard to see but i think that's what happening in the right hand photo.

Re: famicom top rider handlebars controller

i have the bike too, i'll get some measurements. i can hear the balls for the tilt sensors moving in the controller but it sounds like something else rattling in there too, so i'll have to open it up. i can get pics of whatever you guys want. for now i've stared an album here with a couple clearer s...

famicom top rider handlebars controller

is this thing documented? fceux lets you pick it for the expansion port controller but I don't see how to configure it. i dug into the latest source but it didn't seem to be implemented beyond being in the list? i received one of these today and i want to find some interesting things to do with it (...

Re: 5B VRC6 VRC7 MMC5 PCB photos and component readouts

thanks. the references i find usually have 5 bands with the other one being temp as the first band. since these only have 4 bands does that mean temp is excluded? or how does that work?

i've been trying to figure out the mmc5 caps so i can order some but i don't know how to read those. i know most of them are labelled 104 on the board. can you walk through decoding one?

Re: Reproductions that look like original games

these two have no proper NES release and there's no attempt to pass them off as such. it's more like fan art than anything else. people generally don't mind those and a basic search would tell someone what they are. if someone gets fooled by that it's kind of their own fault at that point. they're a...

Re: Mapper Suggestions

for reference, the two titles you listed are both mmc1, as are all the dragon warrior and ultima games. both chr-ram and chr-rom are common in NES carts, with rpgs tending to use chr-ram. battery backed save ram is also common. the major drawback is the lack of an IRQ. mapper writes are a little mor...

nes game action replay repair - rechargeable battery?

I have a couple GAR carts that aren't working, and I have a couple questions. 1. what voltage is too low for the battery? one cart is still showing a bit over 3V on the battery, but doesn't want to work. 2. if the battery needs to be replaced, could i drop in a rechargeable replacement? the battery ...

Re: Problems getting *good* SNROM CHR RAM proto booting on N

Wait, is Elite the non-working game? Years ago one of the developers released an NTSC version of the ROM, but apparently it was only tested with NESticle. The graphics are screwed up if you run it on a modern emulator. If that's the ROM you have, then it may be working as expected. Maybe I misunder...
