Re: Super Homebrew War

Actually, storing three additional palettes for each character could take up a lot of space. Automating it might save space. You could possibly set it up so that if a currently selected character is also selected in a lower player slot, the hue nibble of the middle color of that subpalette gets an o...

Re: Super Homebrew War

Plans for alternate character palettes? Some set themselves up for it well: Micro Mages, Lizard, Study Hall, for instance all have 4 or more official palettes. If alt. palettes were to come in, I'd suggest the following for Kaylee: http://files.mteegfx.com/KayleeAltPals.png #31 (default), #34, #38, ...

Re: Using claymation instead of pixel art for a NES game.

It could look very good if done by a skilled hand, using a clay model as a base and touching it up—but it would be an advanced progress, not a challenge I'd suggest one to take on as a shortcut.

Re: Micro Mages (on Kickstarter)

Things Micro Mages did right: 1. Was 100% complete when the KS launched 2. Had highly polished visuals and presentation, not only in-game, but in packaging, presentation, etc. 3. Offered something unique in terms of gameplay (not only for the console, but in general) 4. Reached backers outside of th...

Re: Action 53 volume 4

Via PM, gravelstudios gave permission for Get It! to be included.

No word back yet from RetroSouls. Will follow up once more and then likely abandon hope if no response.

Re: 2018, what's up?

- Reverse Hansel and Gretel where you play as the witch trying to capture children, turn them into pigs, etc. I'd love to see this game as a deceptively casual resource management game, farming different parts of the woods for ingredients to create the assortment of candies, etc. needed for constru...

Re: Crypto (GGJ 2016 game)

Thanks. Yeah, Everdrive + Famicom works as well. I guess the problem is the PowerPak. Curious now as to whether Everdrive + AVS will work.

Re: Crypto (GGJ 2016 game)

On the NES Spectrum Marathon , an attempt to stream this was made on an AVS via PowerPak, and it was unsuccessful. Is this an issue with the 4-way mirroring? Is anyone already aware of what's causing the issue? If not, is there anyone that has either an everdrive and AVS–or PowerPak and NES– able to...

Re: Action 53 volume 4

I'll take the lack of responses as a no, and I've shot of an email to him. Will post updates as I receive them. I think this compilation could benefit from a few more titles in the non-competition section (if room permits).

Any other suggestions?

Re: Action 53 volume 4

Has anyone contacted Denis of retrosouls to offer an invitation to include Multidude and Super Painter (and editing SFX in Super Painter)?

What a remarkably fun way to generate prompts for a gamejam, much like "a game by its case" jam.

Re: Arcade/Public Display Versions of Homebrew Games

This is all terribly interesting. Yeah, demoing was the reason I initially thought of this, but I included arcade in the request because I've often daydreamed of running a little studio /gallery/freeplay arcade, etc. with dedicated standing machines per game. That daydreaming is often acccompanied b...

Arcade/Public Display Versions of Homebrew Games

I noticed, while watching videos of events that The Cowlitz Gamers' 2nd Advdenture was being demoed at, that our game was almost always just sitting on the Game Over screen. Game Over screen was inevitable (due to running out of lives via timer) but required a button press to exit, meaning the game ...
