Thanks for the feedback Koitsu! na_th_an- That's awesome; I'll be super interested to see your project when it's ready. You've consistently produced amazing work, so I'm going to bet it will be good. If I've done anything useful, don't be afraid to copy/reach out. (I use the MIT license for this rea...

Re: nes-starter-kit: A Quickstart guide for homebrew in C (W
Hey! Thanks for the feedback - that's a good point. I guess with NESDev I'm not really expecting much in terms of "I'd use this" -- I almost didn't post here, but I think there's more of a chance that people here will look at it with a critical eye, and point out potential problems. That's valuable ...

nes-starter-kit: A Quickstart guide for homebrew in C (WIP)
I've been playing around with this for a few months, so it's time to get some eyes on it beyond mine, and see if it's actually useful to anyone. (I also put this on NA a few days ago... feel free to comment in either place) http://cpprograms.net/wp-content/uploads/5B1EA4FE-902C-6778-BC3A75513B970950...

Re: Proposed side compo: Remix
Just saw this now... dangit I already have too many open projects but I might have to find time for this! My only entry (Waddles) could be a lot better with some TLC... better movement/collisions and some redesigned levels and better puzzles. Maybe some extended/improved music tracks too. I'm not qu...

Re: Gruniożerca 2
Finally got around to playing this, I really liked the main character's sprite! The puzzle mechanics worked really well too. My only "complaint" is that I found myself accidentally placing blocks when I meant to cancel. This would've been a major annoyance if there were a lives system, but it was on...

Re: Progress Thread - Jammin Honey
Finally got around to playing some of the compo games, and just wanted to say I really enjoyed this entry! I found it really easy to pick up and play - the mechanics were pretty intuitive, and familiar to other games from the era. The minimalist graphics also drew me in - I can't put my finger on wh...

Re: Star Evil and F-FF
Finally getting around to playing some of the compo games this year, and gave both of yours a try. F-FF was kinda cool - not a style of game you see often on the NES. The controls felt quite responsive. Ii had a lot of fun with Star Evil. (Bet those are words that have never been said before this ve...

Fun little game! I don't really have anything to add that others didn't. I like that you changed the palette slightly after every level; it helped keep things interesting. In general it felt very like the early era of NES games to me.
Nicely done!

Re: Action 53 volume 3
For waddles, I can confirm that's a feature. It clears out all ram unless a specific byte in ram has a specific value that waddles sets to it. In that case the page in ram that has gems is left alone. To get the "true" ending, the player has to collect all gems in all levels, and the RAM thing is me...

My card is nothing short of perfect - pixellated duck and all!
I skimmed the rest of the entries and didn't see anything glaring. Nicely done.

Re: WIP: Dizzy Sheep Disaster
Thanks for the replies, guys! Maybe I'll decrease the time before the level starts a bit. Also debating adding a pre-game explanation page if time/rom space allow. Made some major changes to the game late yesterday- the magnet movement is now automatic to better comply with tbe 1 button restriction,...

Another small homebrew project from me; this time for BitBitJam #4: http://bitbitjam.com/ - It's a 1 week contest to create a new game for a retro console such as the NES. Unlike with ludum dare, I've actually got a little breathing room on this one - I have until Friday, so I'm making a post prior ...

Re: A53v3 Contributor Write-Ups
I hear that on the hating writing about yourself... here goes something: ----- cppchriscpp is a relative newcomer to retro game development. His focus tends to be on shorter games for contests such as Ludum Dare. Waddles the Duck was his first completed longer-term project for the NES. He also maint...

Re: C http library (Now works during regular gameplay!)
chris, despite the fact that I haven't replied in this thread yet, I've actually been super-excited about the possibilities of this. When I saw that post in the test forum, I immediately did a google search and found the code repo before you even posted about it. :D I've done some work on something...
