Re: Action 53 Master Version Work-thread.

Yeah the extra RAM is a real blocker. I think it'll be alright if I assume that the github repositories is where the most up to date versions of games are. Should future compo multicarts have a parental lock setting (preferrably stored in non-volatile memory)? That could enable contributors to do co...

Re: Doing 14x16 square tiles is possible

That's kind of a neat solution.
My first thought would of been to use mode 7 to scale the whole tilemap, but then there would be no other layers available.

Re: Action 53 Master Version Work-thread.

If I'm going for more then 53 games I would probably have some sort of key combo unlock, or multiple layers of menus, so that at first it'll appear to only have 53 games. More likely then not the ROM size requirement will limit me first.

Work-thread of a Volume of Action 53 with 53 Games

About 7 years ago the idea of making a better Action 52 was formed . During that time we have streamlined a process for producing original content, the Nesdev Compo. That process is soon going to leave the initial idea far behind in it's dust. So I am going to help assemble the master version of Act...

Re: Competition Award Logos & Categories

Could work but would have to be placed in the lower-left corner, as the entire right side is used for rendering text to.

if there's anything new at all, it would have to use sprites, and I think most of the sprites are being used for the color overlay of the TV.

Re: Proposed side compo: Remix

Much has changed since the original proposal 4 years ago. The biggest being the large increase of participants and the volume of original content, and I'm in the process of re-deciding what my ultimate goals for nesdev will be. I'm in agreement of preparing for the master assembly of Action 53, to t...

Re: NovaCon 2018 / NESdev midwest meetup (June 16th)

I'm planing to take public transportation there.

I can get to the location as far as Waterloo Indiana, but I can't find a route to the rest of the way except by Uber.
If anyone knows of some other public transportation option (or is willing to drive me there themselves) reply or PM me. Thanks :)

No you do not, and honestly the whole attitude of "burn it all down" because forbidden topics/words where touched pisses me off. What made me even more angry is that xkeepah is a well known person in the scene, and such comments could only serve to drive away newcomers.

Re: Action 53 volume 3

I did get a core dump screen from brick breaker one time suggesting the reset vectors weren't in place. This screen ? if so, AFAIK coredump is not located directly under any hardware vector and only should pop up if the A and B buttons are pressed when the menu starts up. Though now that I think of...

Re: Mega Mountain: NES Edition

Nice little game, would recommend for Action 53. A thing that would be nice to improve is making sure to that after a screen load that the screen turns on only at vblanks, that way you don't see single frames glitches of rainbow stripes, misaligned screens, and stale sprite placement. (also continui...

[*]Any category 2 entries fit to include Ok here's my idea for a non-contest entry for the multicart. A music player that plays music/sfx from all the games on the cart. I figure that UI and functionality to this will be done before March, and will probably take at most 8KiB of ROM. The most diffic...
