Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

Ok so I put a Megaman Wily Wars on a board and it will not save. I'm not having a huge amount of luck getting proper data sheets for these chips. On the normal board that I generally use the game will save. The Microchip 337 1026B is on the pcb that normally saves. The other pcb has this 6162 5950 a...

Re: Can you help me fix my power glove sensor bar?

Ok so I reflowed all the connections and no good. So A grabbed an nes pad and pulled the cable harness out and realized the wires had slightly different colors. I then took a small piece of wire to see which holes the wires corresponded to and I found that there was no continuity from the yellow wir...

Re: Can you help me fix my power glove sensor bar?

I'll try reflowing the solder joints of the connector cables both to the system and the glove, other than that they look fine? The connector to the glove I would not imagine is damaged. I could look inot the connector to the system more and maybe just swap it out w/an end from a broken controller an...

Re: Can you help me fix my power glove sensor bar?

.... Maybe try replacing the capacitors? Do we have documentation of what's inside the sensor bar, other than the ultrasonic thingumies? That's about all there is lol. The main board has 2 amplifiers, and a crapload of resistors/caps. The sensor portion basically has the ultrasonic speakers and not...

Can you help me fix my power glove sensor bar?

I have 2 power gloves(PG) and 2 sensor bars (SB). SB 1 works perfectly fine with PG 1 and PG 2. SB 2 does not work correctly with either PG 1 or PG 2. Just so we can eliminate the Power gloves themselves as being a problem or so I would like to assume. On the SB 1 when turned on w/MTPO just the lowe...

Are new pin connectors worth it?

I have cleaned many nes systems and most of the time I do boil and bake and remove lock-out. I have found the lock-out works well. However many years ago I did 10 nes systems as an experiment and boil and baked them all and was unhappy w/the results alone. The only way I got results I was happy with...

Re: Using DIP28 SRAM in a DIP24 slot

It seems you already found the problem but I was going to chime in that at least from my experiences sram does not cause garbled graphics. I was going to suggest you try it w/no sram chip at all and see if it was garbled. You already figured it out though.

Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

Ok so I grabbed a "normal" board and did some pin traces and found out what the problem is. On my Cotton game pins 10(rom 2) and 11(rom1) or "E" was not right. On rom 1 pin 11 went to pin 8 on the hd74hcoop on rom 2 pin 10 went to pin 11 on the hd74hcoop. On a normal board "E" needs to go to b17. B1...

Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

Removed the 74'139 ... and added wires to connect the now disconnected address lines? Yeah when I did it I lifted pin 1 (a18) and pin 42 (a19) and soldered direct wires to b7 and b8 you can see the solder spots on the board pic. edit: I think you mean from the 74, no I did not think of that. I need...

Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

The 74'00 is almost certainly there to allow them to use two 4Mibit ROMs in a single cartridge, equivalent to half of a 74'139. So it should instead just get in the way if you're using anything other than 4 Mibit ROMs. I actually removed the entire chip "74'139"at one point and it didn't work. I am...

Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

Yeah I seen that thread but these boards do not have any save. They only have 2 roms. Below are pictures of the current Cotton I was trying to make. The other board was one I tried putting a 27c160 in that I know works as it worked in my tester board. I had to remove and throw into another board as ...

Re: Genesis reproduction problems.

Ok so making genesis games have proven to be a bit complicated lol. Some boards work fine but some do not. I am under the impression the ones that do not have to do with extra chips such as HD74HC00P that is on some boards. From my research that is a Quad 2 input NAND gate. I'm still not fully compr...

Re: Cheaper alternative to am29F032 or better place to buy

MBM29F033C works well. Same pinout, cheaper and works with buyic's adapter type III, too! In a GQ-4X True USB Willem programmer this chip does not appear to be a selection. Since this chip has the same pin-outs as a 29f032 you think that would work or should I just email ask them to update the chip.

Re: Cheaper alternative to am29F032 or better place to buy

MBM29F033C works well. Same pinout, cheaper and works with buyic's adapter type III, too! Nice. I'll give them a shot. 20 for $96 is a lot better than 20 for $185 Why not try some of these? 32mbit EPROMs are approx $1.50-2.00 (eBay) https://mortoffgames.com/homebrew-equiptment.html Are you talking ...
