Re: Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro. (Submitted)

I added a simple AI as a post-entry enhancement.

I think it missed a lot for the entry, let me know if you (dis)like it. And overall I'd be glad to know what you thought about the entry ;)

Edit: removed the attchment, it was not the intended build. Se below for the good one.

Re: 2016 NESDev Compo - Guidelines/Rules

Congratulations to all of the entrants of the games and a big thank you to organizers for ... organization!

Would it be possible to have the score of games by category? It can be useful to know what is most in need of improvement.

Re: Evaluating multiplayer games

That would be a great idea. How do you think such a thread would be? Would it be sufficient to describe a working netplay configuration and give a date/hour to meet on IRC, play and discuss?

Re: Evaluating multiplayer games

I added a primitive AI for Spacey McRacey at the last minute Oh I thought that it did not make it in time for the entry as the interface did not explicitely indicated that it was an option. Just tried the solo mode, it's pretty solid. The AI being stupid is balanced by the overall chaos of the game...

Evaluating multiplayer games

Multiplayer games are a strange beast. I played them with actual fellows which is definitely a lot of fun by itself. It has some serious potential to induce a bias when it comes to notation. On the other side, none of the three multiplayers entries propose anything for one player. For those who play...

Re: Progress Thread - The Legend of Quackin' Jacks' Gold

Dancing trees remember me super mario bros 3 just enough to stimulate this "nostalgia vibe" without seeming like plagiarism. It's great!

Re: Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro. (Submitted)

Finished! Real life is hard, so there is not a lot differences between the last preview and the compo entry: New font : someone said somewhere that one pixel fonts where bad ... And the original font was ugly anyway Fixed a bug : we were able to use grounded attacks at the begining of a double jump ...

Re: Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro. (Working Title)

A little more progress on this. I think it is almost ready to be submitted. http://i.imgur.com/bW1kH2n.png Here's what's new: Added a shield to punish obvious moves Possibility to control jump's height Possibility to fast-fall (accelerating falling speed) Respawn on a cute little platform instead of...

Re: Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro. (Working Title)

Thank you. This is particulary important for this character because the scimitar is not a litle detail that may be noticed by an attentive player. It's almost of the size of the character :) Gilbert, I am impressed. You are just so right with your list of advantages! And also the history of flipped ...

Re: Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro. (Working Title)

I progressed more than expected and already done more than my goal for the compo. What's new in ALPHA-5: Implement the missing moves Fix the bug causing characters to get stuck between the stage and the bottom blast line. Fix the crash caused by partially entered Konami code Flip animations on the f...

Progress Thread - Super Tilt Bro.

Here is my entry: Super Tilt Bro. This is a demake of the Super Smash Bros. series aiming to offer the accessible, yet rewarding to master, "versus platformer" gameplay. All this, adapted to the little NES gamepad. http://i.imgur.com/PQcdGPS.png http://i.imgur.com/sVPUm07.png http://i.imgur.com/RxL2...

Thanks all, I'll be sure to submit it as an entry. dougeff will be pleased, this thread nets at least one more game to the compo :D

Will there be an special submission procedure, or progress threads are the way to go?

Re: How's everyone doing?

Hello there. I am working on an NROM-128 demake of Super Smash Bros. (without reusing Nintendo's IPs) but I do not know if it is eligible for the competition. Mainly because it is definitely open source and freely redistributable which seems grey area reading the competition's guidelines/rules. The ...
