Re: Espitene

I had done some speedruns of what I assume is an earlier beta because I liked the game so much. I haven't had a chance to mess around with the new one but it sounds like you have fixed several of the things I found already, but feel free to check out the video and see if there are any more that have...

Re: Progress Thread - Wolfling

Awesome, I highly recommend people giving this game another shot if you were put off by some of the control/momentum issues in the earlier version, as I initially was. Everything feels so much smoother and quite a lot of content has been added, so definitely try it out if you haven't or if you gave ...

Re: Tower

I also noticed that using Potions was confusing. You hit Select, then pick a potion, and have to hit B to use it, but the prompt says Press A to USE. Just seemed a little backwards

Re: Tower

Looks really cool. I briefly tried it and believe I got in a softlock. There were 3 rats in the corner of a room and I just couldn't do anything. My guess is that the one of the rats was blocked in by the other 2 so it was never actually able to take it's turn, and so I was stuck waiting for it's tu...

Re: SimCity prototype found!

It has screwed up graphics on Everdrive. It says it's loading on Powerpak, I have the loopy mappers, but then is just a black screen. So it does not appear to work on flash carts currently

Re: game boy kiosk picture generation

Yep, it just a green overlay over a black and white CRT, I actually have one, it's pretty neat. I do not know exactly how it works, but there is a ribbon cable coming out of the back of the GB, which I assume is splitting the video. There is also an RCA plug going into the headphone jack for the aud...

Re: PowerPak mapper 30 implementation

Awesome Bananmos, now the Twin Dragons ROM works on Powerpak.

Unfortunately Nova, yours had very screwed up graphics with it when I tried earlier.

Re: Using claymation instead of pixel art for a NES game.

Donkey Kong Country on the GB was mentioned but not the NES pirate. Seems like something to look at if you are going for a particular look on the NES.

Re: Micro Mages (on Kickstarter)

I think it was a confluence of the trailer and the optimization video, and the emphasis that the game is already 100% done. The optimization video really showed the amount of work they have put in to the game and that it is going to be a high quality release. And I feel like making the first line of...

Re: Why aren't more homebrew games sold as ROM only?

Kind of just wanted to bring this up again. The Micro Mages campaign just finished and had over 1400 backers for the ROM only. So I really hope people take notice and keep doing ROM releases for future projects, as well as go back and sell the the ROM for older projects too. There are a bunch of gam...

I just tried it on my front loader + Powerpak and it does not work. Works fine on Everdrive.

Re: RAM watching on a real NES?

While it does sound interesting, being able to read RAM on console, coming from a speedrunner perspective this would be a big no no. Looking at the RAM during a run is not allowed as it can provide an unfair advantage, like knowing what RNG seed you are on, enemy/boss patterns etc. Anything that you...

Re: PressStart game (WIP not definitive name)

It worked for me on FCEUX and console, Everdrive. Pretty neat for a start. I don't know if diagonal movement is in the works, I feel movement would be a bit less clunky with diagonal, but 4 directions isn't too bad to get used to. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Re: Why aren't more homebrew games sold as ROM only?

Demos are cool and useful for getting a taste of the game and seeing if it's something you will like, but still doesn't solve the problem of not being able to get the full game as a ROM if you aren't interested in a physical release, for convenience or even monetary reasons. I'd love to get more gam...
