That, and it might take a while to rewrite the pattern table for each frame of animation.
Well I was planning to use CHR ROM so it'd take as slow as a few mapper writes at worst. However the name table would have to be rewritten, but 7x4 characters sounds doable in one frame (at worst double duffering will be used).
That would be nice. Even just a video and a corresponding PNG sprite sheet could get things started.
Okay I'll work of it whenever my current NES project will make me mad for a change.
Game rules would have to be written to avoid these situations.
Yes, but without a doubt there would be less combos than in SF2 anyways.

In Super Street Fighter II, Dee Jay's pant leg was originally going to say MANTIS until Capcom's artists realized that this would make Dee Jay's CHR data 50% bigger (need separate data for left and right views of bottom half). So they changed it to MAXIMUM for great symmetry.
