In short, everything is clear with him. I think he won't mind too much if his work is used for real work.

You seriously think there's a programmer out there who is working on a game and who then says "Let's take Alp's graphics for my game" instead of hiring someone who creates dedicated graphics specifically for that game?

I think there are a lot of 2D game programmers who borrow from Open Game Art and the like.

Using open game art ≠ I take Alp's graphics because I'm sure he won't mind and "If you don't make a game, someone else will make it instead of you"

The dude is weird, that's for sure, and probably quite immature too, but I don't get this whole crusade against him. Just let it go, there's nothing to be gained from digging up skeletons and pointing fingers.

I do think it's a shame that his art goes unused though, he's definitely a great pixel artist, one who can easily adapt to the limitations of different platforms... I mean, coming up with captivating art for the 2600 or the Intellivision is no small feat.

Please note that I never start the talk about him, but merely react to other people digging it up.

But whenever some gullible person on this forum says stuff like: "That game looks AWESOME, Alp. When can we finally play it? We're still eagerly waiting."

Or when someone says: "Alp is now credited in the game "Jim Power". Maybe he helped them with optimization of the code."

Or when Alp himself says stuff like: "Learning NES attributes is not so hard. I learned it when I created my first game in half a day, which was a side project from my "A Link to the Past" clone that fits into NROM and has each dungeon screen compressed in five bytes."

Or when a website that lists homebrew games seriously has Alp's "games" next to "Battle Kid" or "Micro Mages", even though the website owner has never seen them either and simply used screenshot, taking Alp's word for it.

Or when Alp says: "Some person on this forum got the ROM to my game and you can easily find it on <random porn site>."

Then I will inform the people that Alp has never programmed anything and that his claims about his compression methods and algorithms are all lies.

He can be as immature as he wants, as long as he's truthful. If you're an awesome game designer, you deserve praise in this field, even if you're an asshole, and I won't try to belittle your accomplishments.

But when he comes to this forum and claims to be a master programmer, even though nobody has ever seen anything but graphics, and when naive people then seriously try to disprove my doubts by saying:

"Alp told me he lost the source code of his game."
"Alp said he won't publish this game anymore because of struggles with NintendoAge."
"Alp is still working on the game, as you can see in these screenshots."
"Alp said", "Alp said", screenshots, screenshots.

Then you can be sure that I won't remain silent about his fucking lies.

Again: I merely react. I don't start anti-Alp threads, I merely reply to pro-Alp posts. And even then, it's usually only when the poster implies that Alp has worked on a real game. I couldn't care less if someone simply praises his graphics.

Alright, got it:

Exposing liars: Bad.
Praising liars for their nonexistent software: Good.

Not dropping your incessant whining: tiresome.

It was fine the first time. Maybe even the second.

But now? It's just annoying.
Exposing liars: Bad.
The bit where you literally cannot let go of it for even one moment is what makes it a crusade. The bit where you feel fully justified in taking over every thread about Alp to whine and moan about how he lies is what makes it a crusade.
