Mutant Sewer Girls

Post by BoringKate »

It's a super short little thing, but I made my first NES game recently (most of my experience has been with wii homebrew development) and I figured this seemed like an appropriate place to show it off.

I'm already working on a sequel that'll be more of a metroidvania.

Did you have anything in the Wii Homebrew BrowserChannel?

Thanks!

Yeah. I went by ThatOtherPerson/ThatOtherDev and I think most of my stuff ended up on there. 1bit Invaders, They Do Not Die, Swing Ball, Hero City 2, etc. I put out a lot of things, but most of em were barely games. I guess Wii Chatter and Wii Exhibit were the most popular things, but none of the online functionality in my stuff works anymore (which makes those two unusable) (the shared server I'm on must have updated something bc the way I had phrased my http get requests doesnt work anymore).

I think I did try out most things of yours that showed up. They largely felt like Ludum dare entries – just enough to see if there could be an interesting game under the engine.

Back to being on-topic: I found reading the screen of all-caps text difficult ... even though it was clearly just silly filler. The little background ditty got old before many repeats. As a tiny challenge platformer - this was fine.

I played Mutant Sewer Girls.

It was actually pretty decent. Here are some thoughts.

- The music loop could probably be improved upon. It got a little strange sounding after 10 min 0_0

- The character probably could use some acceleration as the jumps as all the same.

- The pickle jar icon that shows you how many to collect kind of looks like a 0 (zero) so when it said to collect 3 and it looked like 30 I was confused for a moment.

- The best part was the ridiculous story. Some mutant girl in the sewer found a cell phone that was flushed down and now is doing porn with it. The is THE BEST thing I've ever heard. I want cut scenes with images plz. LOL

The game actually has a lot of potential. Expand the story with cut scene artwork and make more levels. It would also be nice if once you got to level 5 and died that you got to continue at level 5 and not go back to the start of the game.

I love such games, strength is simplicity. Reminds me of Denine's (Dizzy9) "A_E ADVENTURE 2."
