VRC6b to VRC6a conversion

Post by Jon Nielsen » Wed May 12, 2021 1:33 pm

Pictures of VRC6b to VRC6a conversion. Bonus points for guessing which game before checking the pics ;-)

Key points:
- VRC6 chip desoldered and pin 9 and 10 lifted and swapped with wire.
- 27C020 EPROMs for PRG and CHR(x2) - pinout was conveniently compatible.
- New 100uF 16v electrolytic capacitor to replace existing 100uF 6.3v cap.
- CR2032 desoldered - it had leaked, but luckily not damaged the board.

Thanks to Dane Olds and his recent YouTube video on this.
