NBA Jam xxx repro.

Post by icemanxp300 »

Has anyone got this game to work? I have not tried yet but I read on NA it does not repro.

"Game loads up fine. I can choose teams and then when it's time to play the game it stops and says that something is connected and to only use normal controllers and it locks up but music continues to play."

Any of thoughts on why this would happen?

Ok so I just made this and it does happen.

Soon as you select team and go to start is says,

"Problem
A device not supported by this program has been connected.
Please use the standard controllers only."

Would have thought it was obvious this didn't use any ram.

Battery RAM size detection is one of the most common methods used to detect copiers. At the time, none of the copier makers understood the RAM size bits in the internal header. Perhaps someone was confused because NBA Jam T.E. uses battery RAM, so wouldn't NBA Jam 30 use it too?

It is obvious it doesn't use sram however I have made other games that did not use sram either and removing the chip was not needed and games play fine.

Knowing the unused sram had to be removed due to copyright protection code written within the game that checked for differences is not something I would consider obvious, especially since I am new to repros.
