Having an emulator that is capable to play 1000 frames per second is a nice thing if you want to fast forward a long input recording.

I wonder what sort of video hardware you would need on a PC to output so many display signals, because then speeding up emulation would be very practical (it beats having 1 PC per NES console).

A standard monitor will do fine, rendering each PPU's output texture-mapped onto the face of an arcade cabinet.
