It's a VRC2 with a pirate IRQ.

... Wait, that looks really familiar.

'cuz it is...

Dump it as though it were the ordinary licensed VRC4 Gradius 2. CHR is identical and PRG will only differ in the last 2 KiB.

Sorry, I should have actually looked at my traces from when Fisher asked; it's actually VRC2b layout.

However, it won't work in any emulator. There's no mapper allocated to this board.

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I have a pirate "Kid Dracula" (Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun) that runs on similar hardware.
Is ROM dumping / PAL dumping / scanning worth the effort?
I mean, can this really help documenting and further understanding the hardware?

Does your cartridge have the same bug as mine?

With Lidnariq's help, I have read the PAL chip as an EPROM.
Later he figured out the logic on the IC based on the data.
I see no reason this could not be made again with this other PAL.

Should I? I think I will!!

If you want to build a generic harness for dumping PAL16L8, connect pins 13-18 to your ROM reader data lines, but also put ≈4.7kΩ resistors from your ROM reader address lines to those six pins.
This will let the address line drive the pin if the PAL is configured to have the pin be an input, but will let the data line be read if it's an output.

Back to the subject... :| :|

So, it's NOT possible to dump it with Kazzo because of this extra chip/data?

It is possible. Use VRC2b.
