Powermappers v23 SMB3 isses

Post by dom86b »

Hi everyone,
I just was talking with thefox over email regarding an issue that I am having with powermappers v23 running SMB3. In stage 1-1, the status bar on the lower part of the screen (p-speed, coins, time, etc.) starts to violently shake. I am hoping that this is a software issue and not a hardware issue, but thefox sent me here to see if anyone has an older version of MAP04.MAP that you can share with me, so I can do my SMB3 speedruns without worrying about the game crashing. The issue happens every few times I boot up the game and is fixed with a few resets, but it would be really nice to be able to play it with no issues as this is the game that I bought the powerpak to practice. The next time that I get the error I will update with a picture of the screen, but the game starts to fill with green tiles after there is a lot of shaking, the tiles cover about half the screen. I'm a big fan of these mappers, so any help would be appreciated!

Sorry to keep beating a dead horse, but I was able to record some footage of the glitch happening. I have all information in the description of the video including ROM info and all of the gear being used. I did notice that before putting my NES through an EasyCAP the glitch could be remedied by not pressing the start too fast on the first two screens booting the game. After going through the EasyCAP the sound and picture quality severely diminished on the CRT and now the glitch is happening again. I am thinking that maybe the cables or the CRT are causing this error for me, but can anyone provide insight?

Wow that's wacky... I saw this on a recent smb3 speedrun stream, but nowhere near this extent. I would definitely say this is a powerpak/mappers issue since it looks fine on everdrive. If you ever find out the fix, I'd be interested to know why this happens.

Funny thing on his, is that it usually moves down, and never blocks the game view...
