Hello!
First post after reading all those nice cartridge dumping threads.

So yeah, bought this "Retro FC Plus" bootleg handheld console which has 168 NES games on it.
Most, if not all of them, are probably known already.
Video of this horrible thing in action:

The shown harry potter game is a already known Magic Carpet 1001 hack.
https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_Carpet_1001
I forgot to create a list of all games, but we will see if the chip is not fried (yet).
Didn't expect a 56pin 128mbit parallel NOR flash in it, but here it is.
A S29GL128N10TFI01 from SPANSION.

It's my first time messing with hardware, so i'm excited to try to dump the content of it.
i'm currently waiting for my TSOP-56 adapter, will update again in around 2 weeks.

What does the silkscreen on the PCB say?
"RETRO_FC_V3.6" "2018.9.13" "1848" ?
What's the label on the SOIC8?

Almost. It says
"RETRO_FC_V3.5" "2018.9.13" "18:48" (Time i think)
Also it says TSOP48 where the flash mem was, even if it was a tsop56 chip. Guess both supported?
Also there's a small 8 pin soundchip (i think) and something unknown on the backside (3 pins), i'll post pictures tomorrow.
Cheers.

48th week of 2018, almost certainly. Should imply the PCB was fabricated in late november.

Funny, just found a picture of the v2.1 board.
Seems like not much has changed, also a 128mbit 56 tsop chip.

My ordered adapter is currently held at customs on the airport. So yeah, hopefully they let go of it in the upcoming days...
Also bought a 2nd handheld incase i fry the first one.
edit: I was curious about the USB connection stuff.
There's nothing happening, no packets at all. Its only for charging. (atleast on my 3.x version)

I'm pretty sure these one are software emulators. The performance is supposed to be alot worse.
Already opened up one of them (and broke it, as you can see):
1 Gigabit 64-ball Flash Mem (they didn't lie on the packaging ("1G Storage!"))
Funny though, depending on which circuit connection it has, it's using a different address sector for the different menues. (All 3 are on the same mem chip)
Not sure if i'll try to dump it because it's the ball layout. But there's this additional "adapter" on the pcb (the thing on the picture), maybe i can map it and use it.
The PCB looks kinda similar to the Retro FC 3 one from above... strange, heh.

Took me a while because my setup was crap.
Not posting the raw dump here because it contains the games.

hey, no i did not re-flash it. I kinda lost the interest for this thing.
Like i wrote in the other posts, it's a 56pin 128mbit parallel nor flash. I've ended up using Flashcat USB + 56 TSOP Adapter read the memory.
In my case i've fully removed the chip from the board.

You could use clip ons like this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsM0kMjYIs4 so you dont have to remove and reattach it.
Cheers

Thank you very much, to both of you!
(Van Silie for the initial dumping & Krzysiobal, who also dumped the
Karaoto)
