Only a few hours to go, but Morphcat's making some game about a banana-throwing monkey for LD32:

And here's the finished game. Probably going to polish it some more after Ludum Dare.

I enjoyed watching the stream over the course of the competition. A pretty nice little game for such a short development period as well.

Four monkey faces in the CHR, but only three in game? Also I like how the shiny banana animation is kind of randomly placed throughout the CHR tiles.

Pretty amazing job for 72 hours. I also had the stream on the side for the first couple of days (forgot about it on the third day...), it was cool to watch.

That looks pretty damn good, if I knew any better I'd say you were an actual NES-era developer, except for the fact that there didn't be any German NES software houses.

Also, the black bars, aren't they used to reduce Vblank time or something, so that the NES has less to render?

thanks, guys!

We reserved some space for a status bar which we never got to implement.
As for the top border, I guess that was a questionable decision. I figured it would be bad if the top rows were cut off by overscan with how we were designing maps at first.

Awww, missed the stream :( The game looks great, I gotta check it out. And there actually WAS an NES game made in Germany: Super Turrican by programming legend Manfred Trenz. Still no NES game made in Switzerland back in the day, that's why I (And my friend Bregalad) are here for :P

FYI to whoever missed the stream, Twitch does keep an archive of past broadcasts (at least for some time): http://www.twitch.tv/morphcat/profile/past_broadcasts
