Tiny Arcade coming soon

Post by calvinthedestroyer »

Well this isn't really NES since it's an Arduino processor and the code is written in C but it's very cool to say the least!

Take a look at the Tiny Arcade:
Kickstarter project

The games are fun and the Arcade is so tiny, you can keep it on your desk. I work at the company that is making these. when we first made the TinyScreens we made a Tiny Arcade machine out of one just for fun. Now everyone wants one. Even some of our customers have made there own games for the TinyScreen.

It won't run roms (since the screen is only 96 x 64 pixels you'd have to re-write the rom to work with that) But we have a boot loader where you can load games "sketches" one at a time off of the SD card.

Thanks

It's the perfect size to run TI-83 games.

It's neat and all but that size is infuriating.

Hmm,
Display: 128×64 pixels high-contrast monochrome
It's very close, I never programmed my TI, I wonder how well the code would transfer over. The wiki says it uses Tibasic and Z80 assembler. sounds like a far cry from C

ou could use the ti-basic code as a guide when re-writing it for the Tiny Arcade.

TI-83 is 96x64 and TI-86 is 128x64. A Z80 might be easy to emulate.

This. It's cool as an art/collectors piece but I can't imagine actually wanting to play games on it.

Part of me definitely thinks this is neat. But another part of me sees the screen, which looks smaller than a game boy screen (already starting to hurt my eyes in my 30's), and thinks: gee, people sure have a lot of money to burn! No offense, that's just my honest reaction, haha! I suppose it'd be a fun hobbyist device, kinda like the uzebox. Maybe that's its primary market.

Well, it's only $60 - 75 to burn. that's not really a lot when you look at other consoles. I think my mom paid $400 for the NES, Hmm, when was the last handheld game console that came out? the PS vita? 3DS? Angry birds for my crappy iphone? There's not much to compete with as far as "new" handhelds.

Sorry to hear about your eyes. Maybe we can make a magnifier lens like the old "handy boy" for the original game boy for you to use. :)

The cheapest handheld system is the one you already have. And for a lot of people, that's an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy.

I earnestly think it's a neat little idea. I just know I wouldn't want one myself, and I also know I'd definitely have a hard time with such a little screen. It looks like you don't need any help from me to succeed with this project. Good luck :)
