Diode bridge burned in a French NES frontloader ?
Hello,
I've recently bought a French SECAM NES Frontloader, sold as broken (sorry for my bad english).
I've try to boot it, and after a few minutes with crackle sound and yellow (or blue) horizontal screen bars on the top of the screen, my NES turns off, and now, everytime I try to turn it on, it works for one second then it turns off by itself.
Some people told me that it comes from tension regulator (7805), and others told me about diode bridge rectifier.
Is anyone can give me the diode bridge references ?
Regards

If the SECAM NES is sufficiently like the NTSC one, the AC→DC→regulator is inside the RF box. There are four discrete diodes inside, relatively large ones.
The behavior you describe is consistent with something overheating, but it's hard to say what.

OK, thank you.
In this pic, you can see the four points which corresponds to the diode bridge on the daughterboard, but I don't know how to check it with the multimeter.

Evidently I was wrong and/or the SECAM NES differs, that's a standard 4-pin full bridge rectifier.
From the point of view of that picture:

Code: Select all
Ground ACin
ACin ≈+13VDCout

OK, thank you.
I will disolder it shortly, and solder a new one.
Regards.

I thought all French NES were RGB out.

It's OK, I've solder a W08M diode bridge rectifier (instead of the original one RC 203), and it worked perfectly !!!!!

It's not true RGB though, just composite video that's been decoded to RGB.yxkalle wrote:I thought all French NES were RGB out.
