Tetrastar-style pseudo mode-7

Post by Vectrex2809 »

Just posting this little idea I had these last 2 days. I wanted to make a Tetrastar style pseudo-mode 7 effect for my menu, and here are the results :)

How this works:

The second nametable consists of five rows of texels (plus a blank row), with each row scaled to 48 different widths. The demo switches the vertical scroll position among these scaled segments at various points in the scanline.

Great work! This is not meant as critique because it looks really nice as it is, but rather for "academic" purposes: I wonder if anything can be done to the edges/anti-alias borders so they stop appearing to roll in the reverse direction even though they're fixed (sort of running passenger on a moving train syndrome)?

I like the clear demonstration, and tepples' equally clear explanation. :)
