Looking for people that wants to start some projects
I'm looking out for people that wants to program some videogames for the NES.
I'm looking for people that knows how to program in assembler 6502 and know how the NES works.
I know how to program in assembler, but I'm not much familiar with the NES cpu. I know some basics, but I will need some help at first.
I'm a full-time programer, so during the week I can't spend many hours working on these projects, but on weekends and on my free hours I'm up to give some good dedication to whatever comes out.
I know an 8bit graphic artist and I have a few ideas.
I would really like to build a team to do some nice stuff together... :)
So if you're interested you know what to do.

And you seriously think that there are programmers who know the NES and who have the time and dedication to do an actual full NES game, but who say:
"I have no ideas at all. I cannot think of a single game idea that I could do, but I want to create an NES game so badly. If there was only some person who proposed a concept to me, so that I could implement his ideas and wishes"?

Or "I don't have detailed enough ideas and pixel art skills within myself to act as the sole producer, programmer, and artist of a sprawling 4 Mbit adventure, but I'll take money to program someone else's idea based on someone else's pixel art."
Re: Looking for people that wants to start some projects
Why not ? Maybe that's not your case, but it doesn't mean it is automatically nobody's case. Although I admit OP's request is a bit vague.DRW wrote:And you seriously think that there are programmers who know the NES and who have the time and dedication to do an actual full NES game, but who say:

There are definitely more people who have game ideas than people with the skills to bring game ideas to life, and it's hard to team up with someone with the skills if all you bring to the table are ideas. That doesn't seem to be the case here though... the guy apparently can code to some extent and appears interested in the specifics of the NES, and knows people who can do other stuff too.

Money was never mentioned here at all.tepples wrote:Or "I don't have detailed enough ideas and pixel art skills within myself to act as the sole producer, programmer, and artist of a sprawling 4 Mbit adventure, but I'll take money to program someone else's idea based on someone else's pixel art."
So, what is he looking for exactly? He can code, he has ideas, he knows graphics artists. What is he missing again then?tokumaru wrote:There are definitely more people who have game ideas than people with the skills to bring game ideas to life, and it's hard to team up with someone with the skills if all you bring to the table are ideas. I'll tell you: He knows a bit of Assembly, but not enough for NES programming and he only has limited time. So, basically, despite being a full-time programmer, he still wants someone to do the majority of the programming for him. Which gets me back to my previous post.
If he knows a graphics artist, that's fine. But at least for me I can say:
If I had the choice of
a) getting a graphics artist right away, but I would have to program someone else's vision or
b) looking for a graphics artist myself, but being able to program my game,
I know which one I would take.
But sure, if anybody wants to work with him on his game, go ahead. Don't let yourself be discouraged by my words.

I was making an analogy to my own arrangement that began three years ago and led so far to the Haunted games.DRW wrote:Money was never mentioned here at all.tepples wrote:Or "I don't have detailed enough ideas and pixel art skills within myself to act as the sole producer, programmer, and artist of a sprawling 4 Mbit adventure, but I'll take money to program someone else's idea based on someone else's pixel art."
I'd reply to this in another topic if I had time.DRW wrote:If I had the choice of

I know. And back then, the publisher was doing a business proposal right away, so this is completely unrelated to this thread here.tepples wrote:I was making an analogy to my own arrangement that began three years ago and led so far to the Haunted games.
I don't know what you mean with this.tepples wrote:I'd reply to this in another topic if I had time.

Re: Looking for people that wants to start some projects
well there is the case of
Yes I have 100 ideas, time to code but not time to make the 100 levels and test it etc.
So some people like to just have a list of task to do, which lets you "relieve stress and live the joy of coding a NES" without having to think about or worry about the other stuff.
So if somebody wants to do all the level design and just give me a list of "things to do" - works for me.
